Privacy

What we read, and what we keep.

When you sign in with Google, RecipeDekho asks for:

  • Your basic Google profile – name, email address and profile photo – so we know who you are and where to email you when your website is ready.
  • Read-only access to your YouTube account (youtube.readonly), which we use once, at sign-in, to list the channels you own: their name, handle, picture, description and public counts (subscribers, videos, views).

Why we ask for YouTube access at all: it protects you. Anyone can type a channel's name, but only the channel's owner can sign in as it. Asking YouTube to confirm which channels belong to your account is how we make sure the person creating a recipe website for a channel is the person who owns it – nobody else can build a website from your recipes, put your name on it, or claim your web address.

The access is read-only. We cannot upload, edit, delete or comment on anything on your channel. We do not store your Google access token; it is used for that one read and then discarded.

What we keep: your profile details, the channel details listed above, the subdomain you request, and basic request information (browser, approximate country and city). We use it only to build and run your recipe website and to contact you about it. We do not sell it.

To build your website we read your channel's public videos, descriptions and comments through the YouTube API Services. By using RecipeDekho you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

RecipeDekho's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

You can remove RecipeDekho's access at any time from your Google Account permissions. To have your data deleted, reply to any email we send you.
